Welcome to SPM Soccer. Sports Professional Management was founded in 1987.
Who We Are
Sports Professional Management was founded by Lewis S. Gross, a practicing CPA holding a Masters Degree in Taxation and one of the top sports agents in the past 30 years. When Mr. Gross began the firm, he envisioned creating a small independent agency, which would offer its clients excellent service and personalized attention. Lewis oversees all aspects of the firms work including finalizing contract negotiations with clubs as well as tax and estate planning for all clients.
Ben Rechler, graduated from the University of Syracuse with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from the David M. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. This passion for sports led Ben to join SPM where he leads all of our clients contract negotiations as the USSF and FIFA licensed Intermediary for the firm. Ben focuses on overseeing operations, client relationships and overseas partnerships.
Edward Gonzalez, graduated from St Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Science in both Psychology and Business. Eddy focused on Sports Psychology because he wanted to understand athletes and the things that motivated them to find success in their respective sports. This passion to work with players allowed him to coach at the youth and collegiate level. Eddy joined SPM to help with the recruitment of our youth players. He focuses on each individual player to help them understand how they can improve on and off the field.
Today, the firm represents many athletes in both soccer and hockey while still offering the same personal attention as it did in 1987 with its first client.

Our History
When Mr. Gross began the firm, he envisioned creating a small independent agency, which would offer its clients excellent service and personalized attention. This was the focus of the firm back then and remains the focus today. During the 1990’s there was a wave of mergers and consolidations in the sports agency business. Sports Professional Management resisted these overtures, and remained independent in order to maintain the personal client contact that the firm was founded on. Today, the firm represents over 60 players and still offers the same personal attention as it did in 1987 with its first client.
Our History
Sports Professional Management was founded in 1987 by Lewis Gross. His idea behind the agency was to have a boutique style agency that focuses on quality over quantity. This was the focus of the firm back then and remains the focus today. During the 1990’s there was a wave of mergers and consolidations in the sports agency business. SPM resisted these overtures, and remained independent in order to maintain the personal client contact that the firm was founded on. For the past 30+ years the focus of our small independent agency has been to offer our clients a service that covers all aspects of their careers, just like it did with our first client.
